I was asked by a woman once while wearing a kilt on a wintery day if I was cold. I told her "Madam, I have the wool of five sheep wrapped around my waist, when was the last time you saw a sheep shivering because it was cold?" She paused to reflect on that for a moment then started laughing.Between my wool sweater, wool kilt and wool kilt hose I was quite comfortable.
