    Went out kilted today

    Greetings

I went out today wearing my one and only black "brasilikilt" hence my name. I wore it with nothing dressy or special, just a black t-shirt and German army boots.
At first my wife gave me some opposition reminding me that I explained previously that the black Brasilikilt is my "nice" kilt for special occasions, and that I wear another kilt for everyday stuff.
The problem is that I don't have another kilt, and this is my reasoning for aquiring another one :-)
I insisted upon wearing my kilt even though we were just driving around the neighbourhood.

I went in several businesses to pick up job applications for her, and I didn't get many weird looks or reactions from people I would expect them from (old/conservative looking people) Mostly I noticed the same "Whoah, I don't see people wearing kilts too often around here" expression.

We also went to the local Sportsman's warehouse to look at an enormous Ruger Redhawk .44 mag revolver....WOW!
I have to admit that I was a little concerned about the Hicks and Rednecks who frequent that store who have proven themselves to be violently closeminded.
I really don't mind getting roughed up over something I'm so proud of.
I was set more at ease when one of the salesmen said he really liked my kilt.

Later went to eat at a chinese restaurant. There was a good number of hispanic and asian immigrants who I realized don't seem to be phased by all anymore by the strange habits and appearances of younger Americans.
While we were walking to the car I got my only negative response froma group of guys in their early 20's to 30's pointing at me and laughing among themselves. I made sure to give them "the look"

While I was walking into a Kinko's to grab an application for my wife, she observed a couple old ladies staring at me while I walked past. After I walked in the door they both looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders wondering what the hell just walked past them :-)

Anyways........I plan on wearing the kilt more often, even if my wife thinks I'm doing it just to get attention.
    Thanks for reading

Well, aren't you wearing it to get attention to some degree?

Trust me, it gets easier and better. and if it doesn't, you can buy that big gun and shoot the sods (joking, joking).

I think the kilt is an excellent tool for helping overcome personal inhibitions and fears.

When I was 40 i took up scubadiving to help overcome a fear of deep blue water and whatever lurks below.

When I was 50 (it seems) I took up wearing a kilt to overcome much deeper concerns.

    It works!
