Welsh tartan kilts
Does anyone know a good site to order kilts in Welsh family tartans from?
Preferably with 4 yard kilts as an option, but if I can't find them in 4 yards I would just have to save longer and get one in 8.

My name is Edwards and, although I'm English, lots of people keep telling me that Edwards is a Welsh name. However, I've never seen an Edwards tartan on any Welsh tartan sites.
Does anyone out there know if Edwards really is a Welsh name or do people think it is just because there was a Welsh rugby player called Gareth Edwards once?!
Cheers
David.

Hi David
I know a couple of Welshmen named Edwards. I think it's common in the south of the country. And you are right of course about Gareth Edwards. I'll have a browse and see if I can find something more specific.

Worth checking this out.
http://www.welsh-tartan.com
They have list outside the shop with far more names on than the samples shown on the site. It would be worth emailing them. All the welsh family tartan kilts are 14oz and 8yd.
Hope this is of some help

Thanks, Derek
I went to that site and it looks like they do offer the kilts in 4 yard upon request.

Hey Alaskan, you can also check out the links page on my website at: www.geocities.com/ciltman/index for links to retailers of Welsh cilts in North America.
You might also want to check out the Welsh National, St. David's and Pride of Wales tartans. My personal favourite is Welsh National.

Thanks, Chris.
Actually I had been to your page before, but I didn't notice the links at the bottom of the page.
I had made my decision on what kilts to buy with this month's paycheck, but now a Welsh family tartan is calling my name (Lewis).

I have a 13 oz., 8 yard kilt in "Lloyd" tartan as well. It was hand-sewn by Maria Morrisey at the celtic Clothsehorse in Austin, Texas. The fabric came from Wales. I love the tartan but, if I was going to do it again, I would inquire about having it custom woven in 16 oz. cloth rather than the 13 oz. The 16 oz. just hangs so much better.

Chris,
Thanks for the link about the Welsh Cilt links. I've been looking at getting a Llewellyn Cilt, but I can't afford to pay almost $800 American from the Welsh Tartan Center. Thanks again for the tip.
