Dead right. The bobcat is a type of lynx.
It is larger than the caracal (also called rooikat), which fills much the same predatory niche in Africa and Arabia, and is routinely killed in South Africa as vermin.

Re: full mask sporran?
Definitely not the same size as a domestic cat, as I can attest from discovering while searching out an errant golf ball in Arizona once. My cart mate called to me to tell me not to move to my left, as there was a large female bobcat about ten feet away that direction. Then he said "and don't look up either, just come straight back to the cart, NOW." Upon further review there was a second bobcat barely 6 feet above where I had moments ago been standing, crouched on a tree limb licking his chops----presumably a mated pair of bobcats in their home territory. Big as a medium sized dog, easily 2-3 times the size of a domestic cat.
They do make a fine looking sporran, though. Thinking about a full mask bobcat myself.

Make it! It's a beautiful pelt. Here's a pic of the fox pelt I turned into a sporran and I get wonderful comments every time I wear it.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

I was going for a 'Mountainman/Scotsman' sort of look. Since I'm from Montana I thought it was appropriate, so I opted no eyes and really like the effect it has on others at the games and festivals.

I know bobcats are wild animals, but again, sorry, poor kitty. It was just my first reaction to that face.

All the pelts of this type that I buy come with CITES tags as legally taken and traded.
