Ham. I KNOW you were, and I know you know I wasn't getting at you! I've learnt something as I hadn't realised that it was your late partner's family who were from Gateshead. We talked about folk you knew in Gateshead but I didn't make the connection.

Durham City and Co. Durham are most definitely classed as North East. Don't believe Roger Whittacker who thinks Ol' Durham Town is on the Tyne. It's on the Wear. I, of cours, come from Darlington, which is just South of Durham City and is on the Tees. All of this is part of the old Northumbria which spreads up as far as Berwick Upon Tweed and the Scottish Borders.
