Re: What do you think of this kilt?

Those folks mainly market to the renfaire community, but at those prices I don't know too many rennies that can afford a kilt from them! If I wanted a phillabeg style like that I'd look at Celtic Croft; http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/kilts/p...g-little-kilt/

I agree with Chas. The ensemble looks cheaply made and bit dodgy to me. I'd purchase a kilt from a reputable kilt-maker, mate.

    Cheers,

Um... Are we all talking about the same thing?

That's the picture I got from that link. It looks pretty kilt-like to me... The "battle kilt" looks pretty terrible- but they're using one of the belts that we make at my place of employment, so I can't complain too much. However, for a wee kilt, that's extremely expensive! You can get one here:

Please not that it's $80 as opposed to $400. The material is a lighter weight, but is more period authentic in appearance. Worsted wool fabric is modern. The ones from Celtic Croft look much more correct, and are nice and cool in the summer.

Okay, well in all honesty this was a passing want, today I went back to my quest for the perfect kilt jacket.

I agree, looks too costume-eeek!. Even in Scotland they would think you are going to a fancy dress party.

    Just my 2 pence worth.

I don't argue the costume aspects of it. I take issue with people saying it doesn't even look like a kilt. It looks like a late 1600's wee kilt to me. I wear one similar to it for reenactment events.

Re: What do you think of this kilt?

Interesting concept. I wouldn't look askance at any gentleman wearing one.

What I take exception to is:
Wear your kilt at the top of your hip bone, not down on the waist.
Sigh. The waist IS at the top of the hip bone.

Okay the kilt stinks...How about any way to use an argyle jacket as day wear.
