Re: pro's and con's of tartan cargo

Thanks to the folk with the positive comments. It's a dicey thing when one adds pockets, a few of us kiltmakers will utilize the front or rather side slash pockets on a kilt that's a natural evolution. The outboard pocket like 21st century kilts makes is a hit or miss, either you like them or you don't. The removable pocket is vulnerable to just doing that, they are removable and at times when you don't want it to come off and then there's the discrete attachment system which you have to cover up. Molle straps are an option, but then what does the kilt look like without the pockets?
Ron, I did line the pockets and secured them well to the kilt, it is also 16 oz wool and by it's nature strong.
Panache, sorry for my short answer but in the end it was a logical path.
I like the cargo pockets on the solid colour kilts I make, for me it's a natural fit, beefing it up with hardware and leather bling and you have a kilt with attitude!
Rocky and I have talked about pockets, thrown about ideas and construction of said units.... and truth be told I might just still explore those ideas.
My reservation is when your spending this extra money, wouldn't it be better to upgrade to a better quality sporran or jacket than the novelty of pockets on a kilt?
I see there is a market for this kilt for a few, that's cool. and for those that don't care for this kilt, that's cool too, I'm not offended. ....Wait a second... Grant offends me....well not really but I just have to say it 'cause.....
I posted this because if you ever wondered what a tartan kilt might look like with cargo pockets at least you have one example.
    Again thanks for the feedback
    enjoy
Also something else I'm working on for the near future is "The curse of MacBeth" kilt pin my daughter designed it and it's to be entered in a national gallery contest in the new year. Details of the piece can be found here http://www.rkilts.com/blog/index.php...se-of-macbeth/
