But one thing about slash pockets is that anything you put in there will be lumpy. We're used to seeing it with trousers, where a billfold or set of keys or cell phone makes a lump in the pocket area. But on a kilt it would look just weird. And would totally mess up the clean lines of a kilt, IMHO. So while slash pockets would be somewhat useful, I think they have pretty big limitations on what you can actually use them for. If carrying more bulky items that will make a lump, an external pocket seems to be the lesser of the two evils. It won't mess up the fit or shape of the kilt itself.
I own two kilts with front slash pockets, one Freedom Kilt and One RKilt. The FK was my first kilt with pockets and it's absolutely fabulous the front pockets are well hidden and deep, so deep that I can touch touch finger tips under the apron. I can carry more stuff in these pockets than most sporrans. For example cell phone, wallet, single ladies phone numbers and cigarettes & lighter at the same time without showing. FK's rear internal pockets are the same, I can throw my wallet in there without it showing as it fits below the curve of my buttock. So impressed was I about these front pockets that I asked Robert to include them in my commisioned paintball kilt to equal good use.

Alas, we seem to be straying from the original topic. That of RKilts tartan kilt with cargo pockets so I'll return ys the that. English Bloke you're not to old for a modern kilt, Robert's gotta be pushing 60 and he still gets almost as many kilt checks as me. Having said this I do this particular kilt with the addition of chains as a rather punk/goth kilt.

Not my cup of tea. But if I wanted something to stand out in tartan I think I would be interest in the tweed model R Kilts, those look great. I admit that I prefer traditional kilts but I have and wear modern kilts (when appropriate).

However this one to me is neither fish nor fowl.

Definately daring though, so good on you Robert for being willing to do something different and making your customer happy.

    Cheers

Yes, when I think Robert I think of one challenged individual.
