I would expect the heavier kilt to be more durable. And since it is such low yardage, i would suspect you won't really notice the difference while throwing. Personally, I would just accept the heavier weight kilt. Just my 2 cents...

I would suggest you cancel your order and instead order a 5 yard wool Bruce tartan kilt from Rocky at USA Kilts

They have a number of Bruce tartans available
Life is too short to deal with folks that aren't interested in your business

Had a problem last year with a vendor, and they could not get my kilt right on three different tries. So, I requested, and got, a refund. Take your business to a vendor who truly appreciates you as a customer and goes out of their way to accommodate you.
