    Bilt Kilt Hybrid

As many of you will know, Burnett's & Struth produce the Bilt Kilts range of contempory and utility kilts.

I had a Hybrid made in black twill and Cameron Modern (Cameron being my paternal clan) choosing slash pockets and a front panel hidden pocket. Dealing with Brandon was a breeze. I am very happy with it. One dissapointment is the slash pockets. They arenice in depth but far too small at openings. I can barely get my (average sized) hands into them so won't use them much. I'd be really p****ed off if I didn't have the ultra convenient hidden pocket which takes phone and wallet comfortably.

I already have a UT kilt and a Utilikilt Workman. This is the first kilt my partner likes but he still "won't be seen dead" with me out in public. Though I did manage to get him to take the "fashion shots" out front of our house (see below) so there may be hope yet.

and finally - trying to use the slash pocket

    TT
I think part of the problem for him is that it will be me who gets the attention.

    Re: Bilt Kilt Hybrid

I suspect there will be a few disappointments along the way. I get the sense that Bilt Kilt is still finding its way, but for the most part will turn out a good product. I have one of their earlier models, a medium weight tartan casual. Good for summer wear, but the shallow pleats make the kilt feel insubstantial. I'm sure a lot of guys would find it perfectly adequate in a warmer climate, but I find myself gradually trending toward the more traditional. A matter of personal preference, to be sure.

If anybody out there is interested, it's size 38 with a 21 1/2" drop, designed to be worn at the waist like a pair of jeans. Tartan is 13 oz. weathered Gordon. Send me a PM if this piques your interest.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.
