Re: My Crest
Here is my crest along with the circlet, wife's brooch, the beginnings of my heraldic badge, and two versions of a plaid brooch.

Harold, I like the feather, but generally speaking they "face forward" rather than "bend back"... otherwise they are apt to be mistaken for a fern by the uninitiated!
(damn! but you do good work!)

Re: My Crest
Quite right, Scott. Harold, great job. Are you planning to have your crest, circlet, circlet with a single eagle feather, etc, etc, cast in silver at some point? There are several reputable silversmiths, located in Scotland, in which I am rather familiar with.
Cheers,

Re: My Crest
LOL!!!! A FERN! That's hilarious! I may make it both ways just to mess with people! I could wear one way then change to the other mid day! LOL! I have seen them both ways though from several silversmiths in Scotland. Thats the reason that I made it this way as it would be blown back in the wind.
I have though about having it done in silver but I want to make them in pewter myself first. I just located a source for the mold making material today.

Fern, or bracken, is the plant badge of the Clann Donnachie, or the Robertsons of Struan, my wife's surname and clan. She often wears a sprig of bracken behind her Robertson brooch at various Highland games and gatherings.
