I wear a Kilt because I like them!

Well I just feel I need somewhere to vent a little and here is a place where my Kilted Brothers will understand what I am venting about.
I just happen to be visiting a site where I have met the nicest young lady a while back. I was directed to this site from here a little over a month ago. The reason being is she had spilled her love for MEN in Kilts on the site where she dislays her art. I emailed her to let her know what I thought of her art and we have been writing one another on a regular basis. I thought I would check out the site to see what new art she has displayed, when I found in the comment area someone wrote a little bit about People that aren't from Scotland and the wearing of Kilts.
I was absoulutly pissed of that this person could think that me wearing a Kilt is in some way me trying to be more Scotish. The reason I wear a Kilt is number one because I love wearing them, two because I am proud of my heritage (which is scotish). I am not Scotish, I AM CANADIAN!!!!! and I wear Kilts!!! The person wrote that we are idiots trying to pass ourselfs off as Scots by wearing Kilts and watching Braveheart. I have never try to pass myself off as a Scot because I am from a coutry which I feel is the greatest place on earth CANADA! This doesn't mean I have less of a right to wear a Kilt. My Mexican friend Vic, who wears a Kilt is not try to pass himself off as a Scot. So to this man who wrote this little peice I have only one thing to say to you, "you can take a long hard suck on my ****!!!"

http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/r/...renafee16.html this is a link to the little clip written. It is at the bottom of the comment section. Also enjoy some of Rena's art!

    Andrew,
I've read the post and can only say that you should ignore the little bugger. The tone of the message sounds as if it were written by a very immature teenager. Having been there yourself, you will realize that youth don't often carry that national or herditary pride that most of us develop later in life. It sounds as if this kid is more concerned with today's culture and that he knows very little of the culture of his country. Being from Scotland is very similar to being from Canada in that we both live over top of a major super power that often over shadows us to the rest of the world, resulting in a culture that needs to be sought out rather than defined by the media. This kid hasn't taken the time to look for his culture yet, and his trousers are probably to tight or way too baggy. Ignore the punk! He'll learn one day.

Keep wearing your kilts with the pride that you always have. The narrow minded few are not worth a second thought.

I agree. Notice also that he didnt have the cajones to leave his email address. I would love for him to say something like that to my face.
My family is almost 100% Scot-Irish (my family was planted in Ireland to get rid of the Catholics...sorry Bobby!), but even if I weren't I would still want to wear a kilt.
This guy is a punk like you said and posting on that guestbook in retaliation would only make a mess of that lady's art site...

I'm with the other guys, he's an idiot. Ignore him. I suspect his Scottish compatriots do.

As I see it, we enjoy something that offers us freedom and happiness, a feeling of identity and a real connection with something truly great. That same enjoyment spreads the happiness to others and does no harm to anyone and is healthy to body and soul.

So when a twit like this person comes along and condemns it, it is they that have the problem. It is they that are missing out.

    I pity that person.

How does your lady friend feel about your kilt, and those comments? (I've not read them yet).

I think we all see this guy is nuts.
With a world that is getting smaller by the
minute. It's hard to believe that someone can
    be so narrow minded.
It sure is a good thing that folks don't
think you have to live in China to eat Chinese food,
or live in Japan to drive a Honda, Well you
get my point. Most of us are lucky enough to
enjoy the best from all over the world in
our on back yard, Heritage or not. If this guy thinks
I actually cares what he thinks he is a sad little
    man.

It's OK, temper has been found.
I feel better about things now that I have vented. You know how it is when something pisses you off and you have to get it out, well that happend today and know I am over it.
That guy is still a stupid little twit that doesn't know his mouth from is own ****, but like I said I am over it all. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

    Andrew,

Thank you for sharing with us. This situation reminded me of a saying I hear many years ago and this is the type of person it was directed at:

The more I get to know people; the more I like my dog.

I believe it was a quote for Mark Twain (Sam for those of you who know him better.).
