Machine Cap Badge
Ok I'll start this off. Saw this ;
http://buyakilt.com/machine-crest-cap-badge
and being an engineer I had to have it. Ordered it two days before Christmas, and got it yesterday, which for Royal Mail and USPS this time of year is pretty good.
Welcome, Buy-a-Kilt to the XMarks merchants.

Re: Machine Cap Badge
Isn't the motto on that Latin for "Don't let the bastards get you down?"

Re: Machine Cap Badge
That was my first unit's motto! We had it written in Latin on a plaque in the HQ office. Good times.

Grind you down, actually. Close enough for government work!

Re: Machine Cap Badge
That is a cool badge, I have one I got few years ago from a vendor at a motorcycle rally of all places, I had to quit wearing it after people started commenting on it being steampunk....

Re: Machine Cap Badge
I have the same crest on a kilt pin. Unfortunately, exactly where I bought it has escaped me for the moment.

Well, if you want to get technical, the intire motto is composed of fake Latin. Look it up, and you'll see what I mean.

Oh, I know it's not real Latin, but the phrase is traditional, and normally "translated" "Don't let the b@stards grind you down". I've seen it in various signs and such around machine shops for almost half a century.
