To be sure, Matt is awesome, too, but I've not had the opportunity for a Newsome kilt, yet. I can only speak for what I've seen.
Both of the gentlemen in question are very fine kiltmakers, and I'm not trying to say otherwise. But Matt has a proven track record of altering kilts in huge ways with remarkable success, and that is a fact (and more than speculation).
Like I keep saying, fellows- ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF IT HAPPENS.
Right now, my computer is sitting atop a cedar chest that contains not one, but two kilts which have been altered in the fashion that Mr. Catanach previously claimed was not possible. Not trying to sound snarky, but talk is not worth as much to me as results that I can see and touch.
And I'd like to add again that Mr. Newsome learned how to alter kilts in this way from Bob Martin, who is known worldwide for being a (the?) leading authority on the kilt. So let's not look down on anyone because they're not a professor, ok?

Re: Re-sizing a Lochcarron Kilt...
For 3 inches, I wouldn't bother to re-build the kilt. You can move the apron edge buckles and the underapron strap and easily have a kilt that fits and looks fine. I once moved buckles and straps 10.5" on a kilt, and it was remarkably un-obvious (and, yes, the person was a large person to begin with). Here's the post that describes it, with pics:

Sorry, but you have the wrong impression. I was not looking down on anyone.

That was my mistake, good sir, and you have my apologies for it.

I like your "proven" idea.
You mentioned "drawing a sketch," or was this the pic you posted? If not I would like to see it.
Thanks,
Nylo

I never did draw a sketch, because no one asked me to in the older post. Basically, you move the buckles toward the center back of the kilt and the underapron strap toward the center of the underapron an equal amount. I'm in Egypt at the moment and can't do anything but describe this.

Re: Re-sizing a Lochcarron Kilt...
Ive inclosed a snap of, "drawing a sketch." If there isn't one no problem. I myself know nothing about tailoring, but my girl friend does but isn't familiar with kilts. I'm just trying to build enough information for her to do this.
Thank you,
Nylo
ps. I want to go to Egypt!

As I said, I never did one for the previous post, because no one asked.

No problem. With what you gave me and the pic Ill be showing all of it to my girlfriend. She'll probably figure it all out in two seconds. Thank you again for your input.
