Unless it was a detachable panel over the apron

As has been said here and other places, it's sometimes hard to determine peoples tone and intent when doing this e-communication thing. Please don't take anyone's non-affirming response as being a bother, it's just folks providing honest feedback on your question.
There are a lot of non-traditional ways to construct a kilt out there, and a few makers were linked above. As dave indicated, think about all of the outcomes of wearing a kilt like that, and if you can live with those outcomes, then by all means please yourself.
If you choose to have it made, be sure to post some photos.

Re: Kilt Idea
There are lots of different kilt wearers on this site, some very traditional, some very modern, and lots somewhere inbetween. I think the value here is that there are lots of varied inputs, of course not everyone will like everything, but it is always worth posting new ideas, suggestions, and lots of photos!
So please carry on posting.

Re: Kilt Idea
I say go for it. I would think it over before you lay down the cash though.
It would definately be an original & non traditional. I think the think to remember is that a kilt is just an article of clothing. With clothing there are many fashion options.
I remember when a man went to work he wore a black or grey suit & white shirt (unless he was a tradesman or laborer). Of course you wore black shoes. You rarely saw anything else. As things opened up, you saw more options n looks. Were those options or looks wrongÉ
