The opposite impressed itself upon me, especially in the photo below. So many men are wearing jackets of nearly the same shade that the overall appearance is somewhat of men in uniform. What I would have expected, instead, would have been a kaleidoscopic clamour of various tweeds and hues.
BTW my favourite "look" is the gent wearing the vintage long hair sporran.
I also really like the elaborate vintage 18th century style sporran one fellow is wearing.
So many thanks for posting those! What I especially like is seeing the same gents different years, often with the same kilt and sporran but different hose and jackets.
Many men just have the one kilt and jacket and it is more a Sunday best type outfit which can be worn to a variety of occasions and not something too flashy, the Scots are pretty conservative dont forget.
My wife's family are from the Huntly area and thats how i remember the highland games and especially my grandfather in law who was a wonderful old man
