Re: Got my wisdom teeth removed this morning
Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. Sounds like dry pockets are the least of your worries, for now. They come later.
Hang in there. It will get better.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Re: Got my wisdom teeth removed this morning
Glad you're feeling better.
I had all my wisdom teeth removed at once (by choice) many years ago. From my recollection, I was destined for a place (both geographically and metaphorically) where good dentistry would be a problem, should those teeth start acting up. So I acted preemptively and got 'em yanked at once by a very talented dentist (named Dr. Strong, appropriately enough). As talented as he was, one such experience per lifetime is exceedingly sufficient for me, and one I am glad I will not have to repeat.

Re: Got my wisdom teeth removed this morning
First off, how are you feeling, just now? Close to 100%?
Secondly, I had four molars removed when I was about 12 (in preparation for getting braces), which made room for my wisdom teeth to grow in unhampered; it worked like a charm.
...unfortunately, I've been knocked in the kisser so many times since then that it's not possible to tell that I ever had braces. That's neither here nor there, really, just an aside.

About 15 years ago, I had 3 of my wisdom teeth start impacting over a 3 year period. It was recommended that I get all 3 pulled at the first impaction, but I was much smarter than the guy with the degree in teeth so I refused. Big mistake. Had each one yanked on Novocaine. Rough couple of weeks on each one. Especially when you know more about when to take the pain meds than the guy with the degree in teeth.
About two years ago, my last one started erupting. So about every 3 months, I start teething and am responsible for buying Bentley's for the folks who own Anbesol and Advil, and generally being a complete PITA to everyone. They can yank my teeth without drugs for all I care, but I'll put up with ANYTHING before I let somebody actually put a blade in my mouth. This tooth will come out when it fully get's through the gum, no matter what the cost. Bring a backhoe in there, but nobody is suturing anything in my mouth.

ROFL! If only I were that smart, or at least not so obstinate I could tell a story about my vasectomy but I understand that this is a family friendly forum and not something that you would see on Elvira

Re: Got my wisdom teeth removed this morning
heh
When I was nineteen I booked three root canals, three wisdom teeth extractions as well as the removal of a cyst. I figured I'd get it all done at once and save on recovery time right? Two dentists. I walked from the one dentist who did the root canals to the dental surgeon who did the rest. My girlfriend at the time came with me because someone had to take me home afterwards. We got to the dental surgeon's and the waiting room was full. Someone got called in. Someone came out in a wheelchair all dopey. Someone else got called in. Someone else came out in a wheel chair. Another one called in. Then the first person I saw called in came out, you guessed it, in a wheel chair. After I woke up in the recovery room I kept sitting up and they kept pushing me down but I had to go to the washroom. Couldn't speak though with a mouth full of gauze as you can well imagine after all that so I started signing the letter 'p'. My girlfriend picked up on it and I got to go. Then I … WALKED out to the waiting room full of people and gave everyone a thumbs up as they called the next person in.
Don't sweat the food. You need it. Just keep rinsing with salt water. It kills bacteria and helps the healing process. I see this was some weeks ago now so I hope you're getting better already.
