My step-dad is a Mason, maybe I can use this to talk him into wearing a kilt. I doubt it, but I'll show him anyways. Thanx for the link

Believe it or not, David McSweeney (who you have just received an e-mail from) designed the Official Grand Lodge of Scotland tartan.
MasonicScotland (who are actually Clansman Knitwear) need to purchase their material/kilts from http://www.masonicthemes.com before selling to the public so I'd expect Masonic Themes to be somewhat cheaper. The Grand Lodge of Scotland will soon be opening their own online store too, which will incorporate all the products from Masonic Themes, and more.
As much as I like the tartan (having seen it first hand) I cannot wear it - I'm not a mason and the masons may not look to fondly on non-masons wearing their tartan!

I wish I had a picture of the Kilt that my Grandfather wore in Canada. He was a Grand-master of the Masons in London, Ontario.
The one vivid memory that I have of the funeral was the respect and the kilts that the Masons had. Grandpa's kilt and sporran were amazing!

Why on earth not? Do members the Black Watch frown on non members wearing their tartan?
Do Scots frown on non-scots for wearing the national tartan of Scotland?
From what I have seen on this site, the general view is, if you like the tartan, wear it, it is a nice tartan, I like it too.
I want to buy a Stewart Hunting tartan because I like it, but I'm not a Stewart.

In my research, I fought that the Hunting Stewart is considered a generic tartan.
A far as the Masons go I think they might be mortarfied. (This was a attempt a humour.)

I'd say what I said was more out of a mark of respect than not wearing it because I'm not a mason.
As you'll probably know, Masons have 'inductions' to welcome people into their society and all that goes along with it i.e. secret handshakes and such like.
Having spoken with a few masons recently, I get the impression that because it's their exclusive tartan, they want to keep it exclusively to masons.
I will find out if anyone can wear this tartan and report back.
Personally, I wear a Red Wallace tartan and I am not a Wallace
