Re: Get me outta Japan!
Yes, I would like to get out of France too, albeit not for the same reasons that you want/need to get out of Japan!
I want to go back home, but I have two BIG problems standing in my way. One is I'm probably too old to get a job anywhere (but, you never know until you ask!). The other is this French income tax problem. You see, in France you pay you income tax a year late. This year, everyone is paying last years taxes and if I leave the country (for example to go back to Scotland) then I would have to find a job well enough paid to enable me to pay (for the first year) French and Scottish income tax at the same time.
I will go and see the french tax office, because I heard that it is possible to pay the french gouvernement over a longer period of time, thereby reducing the monthly costs.

The grass is always greener, isn't it? You know, I would be happy just to "swap" with someone... You take my house, car, job, belongings, etc., here in Japan, and I'll take over your things elsewhere.
The only glitch in this devious plan, is that I truly do not wish my situation upon anyone. Japan is wonderful to visit, and even to live for a short term, but long-term presents some unique challenges.

Exactly! Networking, networking, networking. And being persistent helps too. My father, who is a retired Biology teacher and now enjoys mountaineering and fly-fishing - much to my envious chagrin, bugged and bugged the school he taught at for over 30 years, which is rare these days - to teach at the same school for that long - and they finally granted him an interview (this was back in the late 1970's), he nailed it and was offered the position! Sometimes persistence to the point of annoyance on the employer's part, can work, not for all occupations and jobs, but I think you get my point. Coupled with persistence and hard work, a little luck helps too!![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Do not forget to let people know, while you're searching, that you're fluent in Japanese.

Try the DODS (Department of Defense School System). You can teach on military installations, possibly at an american embassy. USAJobs.gov is the place to go. Hope it helps.
