Dear Ken, I am sure I speak for everyone on the forum when I say our hearts go out to you and Heather.
This is a trying time in your life. But it is not the end by any means.
Cancer treatment nowadays involves a range of treatments and (in most cases) informed choice between them.
While I have known several folk who have lost their lives to cancer, I have also known quite a few who have survived.
A colleague of mine, then in her early 20s, chose not to undergo surgery for her breast cancer, and after therapy became a mother of three children, all of whom were breastfed.
The decision not to go under the knife can be a difficult one, though, as it has not always had a good outcome.
I hope Heather will be able to accept herself as a woman (and be so accepted by the man in her life) should she undergo a mastectomy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her and with the family.
Best regards,
Mike
