    Firstly, many thanks for the input to all those that applied posts!
    Addressing our Karl, that page is simply brill! I will endeavour to attempt that for certain or at least bring a copy of that with me to a tailor when I bring my Ulster casual in for some hip work. I know I have the tools and the time, just not necessarily the skill.
    Believe it or not, I really don't seem to find many Kilt pins that I fancy somehow. I have a multitude of military style pins just lying around. I just thought to push a brainstormed idea out, but seems as though I was beat to it.

    If you take a little piece of sandpaper or a fingernail file and dull the point of the kilt pin, thus making the point wider, it won't split the threads when inserted through the apron, and you won't have to spend any funding on grommets.
