Great kilt encounter
I was shopping at the Hot Topic at the mall for some t-shirts. After a few minutes, a female employee came over and was literally GIDDY at the fact that there was a dude wearing a kilt in her store. She even high fived me! She told me that the only other time she'd seen a kilt in person was when she was at the tatto parlor and her artist was wearing a kilt. Well, I guess that she asked him "the question" because he lifted it and showed her! I told her not to worry, I don't do that in public. We talked for a few minutes, I bought some shirts, than I decided I'd let her take care of some other customers. Ah, if only I were single and 10 (maybe 15!) years younger.

Have some fun and walk into a clothing store kilted. When staff asks if the can help you say with all sincerity, "Yes please, where are the men's kilts?"

That is a pretty epic story. I usually get followed by security when I go around malls kilted.

I walked into a mens store this summer & inqured bout kilt hose. From the look I got it was obvious that I should have asked a simpler question like "Whats the meaning of life?". I explained what they were & how high they should be. More confusion from the salesman. "I dont think we have any. We have these (normal socks)." Needless to say I dint get any that day.

But Knotty, when you are talking to the uninitiated, you need to talk their language.
When I walk into an outfitter looking for kilt hose, I ask for long socks.
There is a Scottish outfitter in Cape Town (whom I did not manage to visit when I was down there last month), but I doubt I would find another outfitter in my part of the country who would have any idea what kilt hose is.

Being single, reading experiences like these makes me await the arrival of my first kilt with even more anticipation...

Isn't that a great feeling?
And doesn't it suck that you aren't 10 (or 15) tears younger?
