Why is it that soldiers are under represented?

Well this just moved the Army tartan up in my to done list. I just have to get cracking on a kilt pin incorporating the Ordinance bomb and the MP crossed pistols.

This has been fun to read. I served in two branches of the military: active Air Force during Vietnam, and then Army National Guard. Have to admit, Marine tartan is great looking, Army is nice, but Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force just plain ugly!

I am currently still active duty in the Navy, and have a Navy tartan kilt... and I wear it with pride, that being said... I also own a Marine tartan kilt that I got because I liked it and it was a GREAT price at still water Kilts....I'm just sayin....

I like my US Navy tartan, Navy here. The blues are more of a challenge to coordinate with, I will admit, than the other branches. It kind of wants a white top and hose for me, forcing a casual look.
But, like clan tartans, it dosent seem proper to sport anothers tartan.

USN and Indiana National Guard vet. IMHO the USN tartan is dog-butt ugly. Canadian Navy is a true beauty eh.

It is nice, real similar to my Pacific blue. USN tartan would me better if that white stripe wasnt so wide. Tends to dominate the pattern too much.
Note: I refer to the version Sport Kilt uses - google image poped up about 4 variations.

I am Navy also. I would never wear a tartan from any of the other branches of the service, but I doubt that I will ever wear the Navy tartan either. I am just not fond of it. It is too blue as far as I am concerned.

And I like the Navy tartan, which I wear to honor both grandfathers that served in the Navy in WWII. Mine is a USAK in PV, and I usually pair it with a navy or black t-shirt, although I have also been successful with a red t-shirt to match the red line.

I am in the Navy and have done Joint Service with most of the other branches, even wear a Coast Guard ribbon from the War on Drugs.

I can understand how you feel. While at a promotional products trade show with my wife (her job) there was a lot of challenge coin dealer as well as quite a few other dealers who used military logos in their work. I will have to say that over 50% of the stuff with military on it was Marine. Much to my growing annoyance the Navy was second to last. Only the Coast Guard was worse.

That being said the Navy seems to have more tartans than the other branches when you count the Sea Bees and others so I guess it can balance out

All in all you will find very few people though in the military (despite our cracks at each other) who will every not stand next to someone who raised there hand when the country asked for them and whether they have died due to an IED, firefight or any other reason they have still given the last full measure of devotion.
