New friend from Isle of Skye!
I now have a new friend from the Isle of Skye! I was out walking the dog yesterday and happened to be going by this gent's house as he was coming out to go to work. We had traded hello's before, and I knew he was from Scotland due to the Scottish lion license plate on the front of his truck. Neither of us was rushed, and he stopped me to say Hi, introduce himself, and pet our dog. During the conversation, I asked him where he was from, and he said Isle of Skye, and when he was a boy thought moving to the USA would have been like thinking he would some day be a movie star!
Anyway, we had a nice chat and went on our ways. Saw him again this morning and had another quick chat, but had our new dog with us and he is a little shy, so he did not want to stop and chat.
Sorry, no kilts, just a nice interaction with a Scottish gentleman. And not that you need a reason to wear a particular tartan, especially the Isle of Skye, which is a universal tartan, but I now I feel that I do have a connection, and I love the IOS tartan.....

Cool! I met a man who lives on my road who happened to ride the school bus driven by a man I used to know in Dover, FL. Small world.
Is your new friend a kiltie?

I can't even imagine the conversational wanderings that led to this discovery. . . unless there was an adult beverage or two involved!
And to the OP, IoS is a gorgeous tartan with no need for "excuse" to wear -- but since you now have one, go for it!

No beverages at all, Sydnie. When you put two Southerners together, we don't waste any time before we've either determined that we're kin or that we used to live beside somebody who delivered the paper to somebody's neighbor who was the tax collector who had to repossess somebody's bass boat.

Fair enough. In southern California, you can live in a house for 5 years and never know your next-door neighbor's name. . .

Nope, I get to Nashville on a regular basis for business (actually Franklin). OK to visit but prefer my brand of Southern.

So true! Not as much in FL, as most people are transplants, but definitely experienced this when we lived in NC.

Southerners are a bit like hobbits in this regard.
For instance, Sydnie, one of my college studio-mates lives in Franklin.
