"Kilt pin" is anything you put in that place on the kilt. Use a ladies' brooch, or find something you like and glue a pin onto the back (check Michael's, other craft/hobby stores for glue and "findings," which is what the pin and other jewelry-making stuff is called).
Another thread on ladies' size kilt jacket mentioned using a Spencer style jacket. You can get them from restaurant supply store.
Good luck!
Fabulous idea! Thank you!
Glue will not stand up to the amount of merriment that will surely be had that evening.
I saw one on the internet that I like...looked welded. Yep, that's about my speed. But, shipping wasn't going to get here on time. Still might order it anyway, as I liked it.
Guess I'll add a little more detail. This is a 60th Reunion for the Sunland Shamrocks Motorcycle Club. I am not Irish, I just drink like one on tv. My paternal grandmother is of the Hamilton Clan, though I never grew up with that side of the family at all. I have looked at Hamilton tartans throughout the years, but don't really care for them.
Anyway, the other day while going over my wardrobe choices for Saturday night, I decided an Irish tartan kilt was as good as anything. Hopefully it gets here in time. Then started looking around to make sure I wasn't going to piss anyone off but going at least partcially dressed "traditionally" to the 9s.
I am an accomplished mainstream seamstress and as well quite accomplished in the theatrical realm. It's not like I can't make anything I am looking for....it's the time, motivation, etc that usually keeps me from doing so.
I recently started getting into vintage motorcycle trials. Known commonly as Scottish Trials. If any of you fellas have any links to actual Scottish Trials events where kilted is the norm or present at all, PLEASE post them!
I joked about being a Scottish Trials purist....and going out kilt clad....regimental of course. The better half didn't see it nearly as humorously as I did.
Another question, if you know you're going to be out and about doing vigorous activitites....do you still go regimental? Partially regimental(willy sock)? What do ya do? What do you do on windy days?
