Anyone else find wool to be too hot?
So, Friday night 2/24 went to Denver. Was wearing a philabeag made of 55%poly 45% wool, Marled hand knit 100% wool hose, cotton Henley and a blue poly dress shirt, leather bomber jacket. Temps in Denver were 25F to 35F. Even outside in the cold my feet were sweating like an August day in Phoenix. This is the first time I've worn these hose, before I've worn cheap cotton hose from sock dreams. These hose look great but man what can I do about the perspiration?

I'm forced to wonder about your shoes. Are they a breathable material, like cotton canvas or leather? Or are they a man-made material?
A couple of times last summer, I wore wool socks with a pair of hiking boots that had a fair bit of man-made materials in the upper, and it was torture. The same socks, on the same hiking trails, in similar weather, with good leather boots - a dream.

I have a feeling way down in my feet that NeightRG is on to something. Do some experiments and let us know. Good luck.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I don't think so. Boots are Double H all leather uppers. When worn with any other socks i have no problems. I'll continue experimenting.

Actually, wool can be rather cool in the summer time, but it depends on the amount of material you have wrapped around you. My 8 yard kilt is a tad warm, but when I put on my 5 yard casual, I'm usually quite fine.

Can't speak to the hose, but I do know what was causing your sweaty forehead...she had to have been at least 5'11", 6'1" with the heels.

Yeah, I hear you. I've worn this kilt in the summer with no probs but did notice some perspiration up close to my belt. Perhaps it was just me that night. I'll figure it out. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Even with the challenge of a cell phone picture, I was getting a little warm looking at that picture! I don't think it was the hose....

Re: Anyone else find wool to be too hot?
I've never had issues with a kilt, even my 16oz tank. I do get a tad hot when wearing a wool sweater or jacket, though. I've worn wool for years; Marine Corps uniforms have Many wool items. I've never had issues with overheating unless the weather was particularly hot, and then the heat was environmental, not due to dress. In fact, wool is friendly to sweat, where cotton is quickly soaked and dries slowly. I've been hot at the games, but that's usually due to ambient air temp (last year it was in the 80's, 90's year before that.) I attended the Phoenix games one year where it was in the mid-80's, but due to relative humidity, I was quite comfortable.
