You are correct, the National Geographic test is looking at human migration patterns over the last 100,000 years or so.

Not yet.
In fact I got an email last week that said there was a "delay" in obtaining my test results. It was a bit vague, but it did mention two possible causes. 1. An overwhelming number of tests submitted created a backlog. and 2. They may need to retest my samples and/or have me re-submit.
To get this email at about the time that I was expecting the results was more than a little disappointing (after waiting more than two months.)
I haven't heard anything else since, but am hoping to get results soon.

Sorry to hear that. I can completely understand your disappointment.
I doubt your samples need to be retested...I would imagine it's a combination of the high number of test samples and the rumor I heard about them expanding their labratory. FTDNA has always been on top of things, and I am actuallly a bit suprised that they didn't take care of this differently.
I do hope you get your results sooner than later. I know they are definitely testing as I've recieved about 4 new matches over the last two weeks, so hang in there!

Re: DNA Genealogy
It has been just shy of a month for me, so I will start expecting my results sometime after this week. I gotta say I am a bit excited. I hope it helps me with my paternal tree!!

I hope it helps as well. Interestingly, I took an autosomal test and got two distant matches to some folks from Skye, and one place I am not famliar with: Benbecula?
It's interesting because I havnt been able to figure out exactly where my Scots ancestors came from. Unfortunatley, the two matches represent a distant past...perhaps even a past well beyond a paper trail. Nevertheless, It's very interesting. My matches indicate that at some point in time some of my Scots ancestors came from the Highlands/Islands (probably tenuous...may never know).

Re: DNA Genealogy
I am still waiting on my 37 marker results but I have my 12 back. Family DNA gives you a "best guess" and its looking like I am going to be a R1b1a2 with the short hand of RM-269. This would put my ancestors in the Western Ireland/Western Scotland/Northern England area at the preliminary.
If anyone can shed light on this I would be much obliged.

Glad to hear you got your results. I am also R1b1a2 M-269. You are correct this signature has its highest frequency in the Celtic countries primarily.
Have you gotten any matches that match your surnmame at 12 markers...also did you join a surname project?

Re: DNA Genealogy
Yes for both. However, the Cochrans that matched me were fewer than I thought there would be. I have emailed them all and heard back from 2 who do not share any immediate (read 5-6 generations) relatives with me.

Re: DNA Genealogy
As I've mentioned before, I actually have more matches with a surname other than the one I "should" match so you having matches with a project with fewer members is actually pretty good...my surname project is Jones so you can imagine how many participants there are and I only match six if I recall correctly.
