Chris: If you click on the 2nd entry, "A Community of Kiltwearers", and then when the next page comes up, click on the same string again, you will be taken to the "Forum" page, but not the "Home" page.
I wonder if that's the "problem", or is it the presence of Facebook. That's a problem in its own right.
I, too, have XMTS bookmarked (a Google bookmark) and have used it pretty much since day-1. Maybe that's one reason I can't appreciate the problem.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?
MacMillan's son ,
I would suggest the following :
1. Do the Google search and get to the Xmarks site ( not the facebook ) by any selection that takes you to the actual site regardless of the page .
2. Once at Xmarks , click on home to take you to the home page .
3. Once you are there , click on your " favorites " tab and save it to favorites .
4. Once saved to favorites, go to it and right click and send it to your desktop.
The process takes about a minute or so . Now that it's on your desktop , you never have to go to Google again to find it , and you never have to type anything , just click on it .
There are also other ways to get it to your desktop , but the main objective is to eliminate the hassle of the " search " each time .
Best regards , Mike

Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?
Nowadays there are many factors that go into determining how search results are indexed. And there's a pretty good chance that no two people will get the same results no matter what.
Here is what I get: (screenshot)

Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?
Thanks everyone. I just checked it and now it is back to "normal" with the home page link at the top of the list as shown in CDNSushi's and Chas' screen shots.
It seems a good motivator for me to learn more about how these things are determined. I'm on here at least once, and typically several times a day, so I don't think it's a frequency issue. I'll study up.
MacGumerait, thanks for the solution, I'll give it a try.
Cheers!

And for me as well! That is VERY strange.
Ah well, just another reason for me to stay away from google.

Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?

Google uses proprietary software to create personalized search results for everyone. It uses past search results, frequency of sites visited, etc. If you're signed in with a Google account and/or use Chrome, it pulls these things from all of your computers.
In this particular case, though, if you're already typing out "x marks the scot"...why not, instead of searching for it every time, you just type it in your address bar without the spaces and throw a .com on the end of it?

Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?
You could also simply type the URL (www.xmarksthescot.com) into the address bar. I have this website bookmarked, but the URL is so easy to remember that It is quicker to type the URL than to search for the bookmark.
