I'm sorry. Yes, I did mean the vBulletin forum software we are posting with when I wrote "VB." If it detects a web address, it puts url tags around it. I think there is a way to prevent that, but I forget how.

I have to work with HTML and CSS a lot, and I apologize if I came across as if I know a bunch of programming languages or anything special because I don't; it's just the HTML etc.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Ken and Bugbear: Since I did not recognize the code, beyond identifying it as html, I assumed (incorrectly) that VB might be spinning out the html in some way from its higher-level commands. Obviously, I don't know either language very well. Thanks for your comments and help.

Also, though I am vaguely aware of background software helping us write our posts, I have never read about vBulletin. I'll have to look into it a bit. Maybe it can help me even more than it does by default.

While in the old days I wrote a lot of Fortran and C, in the ancient days (1966 AD to be exact), I learned both Fortran and CDC's assembly language, Compass. I loved assembly language, because it was so powerful, and illuminated the boundary/connection between software and hardware. But, I hated it, because it was sooo easy to make catastrophic mistakes. And, I made LOTS of them.

It's good to know there are other Code Warriors on the blog helping preserve "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
