Hi Freelander and welcome to xmarks.

I use the loops on my kilt AND a grip hanger.

Grips on the apron with the loops on either side. Works great.

    Kiltedchef,

They're just envious of us slim people. Although I must admit that I think I have permenantly left my 32" waist behind in favour of 34".

I was 34" waist for years and years. Then in the last year I appear to have added an extra 3".

The effort it's taking me to get rid of them. I wonder if I'll see 34" again.

    Al,

I think it has as much to do with body shape as with actual body mass. Mr Gravity always wins.

This is how I hang my kilts too. For those of you that have an IKEA near by, You can get a two pack of these hangers for $1.99 (cdn).

These are brilliant and I use them to hang all of my kilts (now coming up to 39!). Here in the United Kingdom, these hangers are available with wooden bars of different lengths, so there is no problem with 'kilt droop'!

If you use the hanging loops on the kilt, your pleats will soon begin to twist out of shape due to the sagging waistband.

    Note to Phil:
If you fold your neo-trad Utilikilts into three thicknesses rather than two, you won't have the droop problem! Don't snap the aprons together, but holding the kilt fully open, fold it twice (like a two-fold menu card) so that one end is folded equally under the other. The wooden bars can still be fed through the belt loops for added hanging security. I've been doing this for the past four years without any problems.

Those hangers are okay for lighter kilts but for a heavier kilt I use binder clips. Bend some wire hangers so the clips don't pull the kilt to the middle of the hanger.
