Graham, You've mentioned this before and it's something I was rather surprised to hear...considering the fact that Australia is home to some of the most lethal wild critters on the planet. I presume Tasmania shares that attribute.
Blu, we have nothing lethal here, except every kind of snake on the island (where's St.Patrick when you need him?) plus various spiders: the redback, funnelweb, white tail etc. In the water we have Great Whites, jellyfish, blue ringed octopus.
But on the roads we have teenage drivers, by far the most lethal of all the species.
My only encounter was a couple of years ago, the deadly tiger snake got me and put me in intensive care for a day.
It's still a lovely place, and not near as dangerous as many places.
