Saturday evening after supper, my wife and I decided to walk down to a small ice-cream shop nearby. It's about a 10 minute walk there and 10 back. Aside from a carload of pie-eyed redneck teenage boys yelling some incomprehensible slur out of a car window, there was no perceivable reation at all. I've come to accept this as the norm for this area. I suspect that part of the reason is an influx of imigrants... mostly middle eastern or arab extraction. Interestingly if there are comments, it tends to be mostly from women. Men just do double-takes for the most part. Funny to watch. Most of the questions I do get asked are pretty standard. Every once in a while I'm dumbfounded... mostly by the absurdity of a question. "How's the haggis today?"...or something equally witty. Duhh.
