Feeling closer to my roots, I guess. I had never used Jackson before, but, that's what my Dad used to call me. My given name is just Jack. I have several ancestors that are named Jackson, or Benjamin Jackson is typical, however. My grandmother was a Cameron, so, upon joining this forum it just seemed natural to use the family name.

My name came about because at the time I joined this forum I had long hair and a full beard flecked with silver grey and am quite a big fellow. People used to say that I looked like Grizzly Adams from the TV show. I also love wildlife and bears so it was a natural choice for me. Although I do have to say that there are not many bears in Southampton UK.

My real name is at the bottom of this page though.

My husband used to use the name "TurboDog" after a malt beverage made by Abita brewery, and I wanted something to go along with that.

The name also makes me think of a cat in a blender, which makes me laugh and is sometimes apt.

I misspell it intentionally because there a few other TurboKittys out there and I don't wish to be confused with them.

Like riverkilt I, too, grew up on a river. I aspired to be a true river rat, so much so that I claimed it as my river. That river is the black warrior river of Alabama but it is only called that by cartographers and those below the fall line. My section above the fall line was simply the warrior.

I travel to Scotland three to four times a year, and I love the Highlands. My clan association is MacKinnon, who occupied and still do today the Isle of Skye. So, my user name is a combination of Skye and Highlander -- Skyelander.

Black Rose is the English translation of an old Irish poem "Roisin Dubh" which I was fond of in school.

Bought a first-generation Mazda RX7 in October of 1979 and drove it until last April, when it was passed along to someone who will love it as much as I did but is better able to keep it on the road. So, my given name plus the "7" that was such a constant in my life for so many years.

When we met up with Monkey@Arms for a kilt night, he said surely there were not 6 other Sydnies on the forum?!?

The first time I ever needed an internet username was when I registered for eBay.
I wanted the name "Towser" after a stuffed toy scottie dog which my mother made many years ago and which still exists, but eBay would not accept this as the name was already taken.
Then I tried "Cessna" after the make of the aeroplane on which I learned to fly but that was taken too.
So I then tried to sign in as "Cessna152" which was the make and model of the aeroplane but that was also unavailable.
In sheer frustration I then typed in "Cessna152towser" and eBay accepted it. As it wasn't the easiest of usernames to remember I decided that I had better stick with the same name on every other internet forum which I subsequently joined.
