interesting, very interesting
As you may recall I have been having trouble with Glengarry Hats. It is one month to the day since I ordered a balmoral hat from them. As my last 2 e-mails to them have gone unanswered, this morning I filed a Paypal dispute in which I was told they would act as the go-between between Glengarry Hats and myself. In 20 minutes I received a notice from Paypal that the dispute had been closed and that Glengarry Hats had issued me a full refund. Paypal tells me that they will issue the refund but that it could take up to 30 days for that refund to show on my account. As I have never had any dispute with Paypal in the past I guess I can rest assured that eventually I will be seeing the refund in my account. No explanation from Glengarry Hats as been forthcoming however.
Chris (Dunadd Trading) standby for a balmoral hat order tomorrow, April 3 (payday)

I guess no explanation is required.
If you pm me the details of your order, I will get the order lodged with Mackies ready for 1st thing tomorrow morning, so as to get ahead of the time differential, I will then send you an invoice via paypal for you to pay as and when you have the funds.
if that's ok with you

Frankly, it doesn't get any better than this, Sailortats!
Chris at Dunadd is simply phenomenal and is the only place I go to purchase my Scottish headwear, whether it is a Glengarry bonnet or a Balmoral, it doesn't matter, for I know that I will receive the best Highland bonnets available on the market (Robert Mackie) in virtually no time at all!
I am expecting a new Balmoral in Lovat blue with white dicing and the ribbons tied in a bow - should arrive any day now and I placed my order on March 23; Chris notified me via e-mail that my Balmoral had been completed by Robert Mackie and was being packaged and shipped out on March 29! Brilliant!
You will not be disappointed with Chris' excellent customer service, nor the unsurpassed quality of Robert Mackie bonnets; trust me mate, he will take care of you. I am so happy that someone like Chris and his wee shop in beautiful Argyll and Bute is in existence!![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Cheers,

Interesting yes, as I had just the opposite experience with Glengarryhats.com.
The Victoria Opera needed 4 Balmorals and 4 Glengarrys, all in different sizes.
And the Opera gave me a very short suspence time. I placed an order and sent an email asking for a confirmation that my order could be fulfilled within the deadline. I had seen this thread so was a bit concerned.
I got an email response from Ian within an hour of placing the order. He confirmed that he had all the sizes in stock and that I should receive the order within my short suspense.
All the hats arrived here today. Five days from order, to hats in hand.
My full order arrived. All the hats are the correct size and have the correct color and banding that I ordered.
I really wasn't expecting a high quality item given the price difference between "Glengarry hats" and "Bob Mackey" but I have to tell you I am very pleasantly surprised. I find the quality of Glengarry hats to be, at least comparable, if not slightly better. These are not some inexpensive import.
Time will tell as these hats are worn during the production. I will be getting these hats back after the show closes so will be able to review the quality better after they have been worn.
All in all I found glengarryhats.com offered very good service, quick shipping and a quality product. Each hat was even in its own wrapping in its own custom box.
I will be ordering from them again.

Steve,
What features of the Glengarry Hats products indicate that they're of slightly higher quality? I haven't handled any of this type, only the Mackie balmorals, so I don't have a basis for comparison.
Cordially,
David

I too have had good luck with Glengarryhats.com: good e-mail communications, quick shipping, good value.
Wonder what happened to your order sailortats? Sorry to hear of the misfortune.

I own Balmorals from Ian at GlenGarry and Chris at Dunadd Trading Company. In my opinion they both provide excellent bonnets. The wool in the Glengarry balmoral is heavier than that in the Robert Mackie. The weight seems more like Peacoat wool to me. So, if one likes a heavier bonnet, one might prefer the Glengarry to the Robert Mackie, and vice versa of course.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

After reading what you all are saying I am even more baffled. My experience with Glengarry Hats was a disaster. Totally opposite from what you have been saying. I certainly cannot explain it. I suppose there is always that 10% that things go wrong for whatever reason. I was pleased to note that my refund was authorized by Ian immediately. I guess my problem is just one of those unexplained happenings.
