The top of the kilt may then feel a bit high, that's fine and you will get used to it.

Thanks for the input, Jock. I'll give another double-check now that I've been walking around a bit, but I'm pretty sure that most of what you're seeing is, in fact, the "dreaded camera angle problem." The hose tops were coming up just to the bottom of my kneecap (although I have since adjusted them downward a bit), and the kilt appears to be skimming the top as prescribed (although things do shift around a bit through the day).

    Enjoy your day, as well!

Looks fine. Love the hose. I find things do ride down during the wearing. I shift it up from time to time. You should feel a nice fresh air against the knee caps - or a clammy warm damp if you are inland in Florida. Good for you. Beautiful hose by the way.

I think the belt is fine. The shirt is flat out awesome and so are the socks. You look good man!

Looks good Sir. I was a bit more casual than what you went with; I was in my Stillwater Stewart black, black t-shirt (Malt Whiskey in Disney script), lovat green hose and combat/work boots. I too had the 3-inch black belt with the silver plate buckle and a black day-sporran.

I got more than a few compliments on the t-shirt, and "thumbs up" for the kilt. I spent a goodly bit of time introducing folks to National Tartan Day. All in all, a great day ... here's hoping yours was great too!

I think you look pretty darn good, sir. Though it does look like the waistline of the kilt is a bit low. I like the belt, but generally don't wear mine as my wife hates it. Reminds her too much of a "Rodeo Winner". I usually wear a plain belt of the same width, though she says that even that, is just too wide for me, especially after I lost a bunch of weight. I tend to agree with her on that. I'm a small guy so the giant belt kind of takes over.

I also agree with the comments on the shirt. Very classy yet casual.

A tad lower on the hose too

Although this is a bit late for a timely response to your question, I thought I would provide a touch more input as you requested.

Many of us shoot for keeping the top of the hose about 3 fingers below the bottom of the kneecap. Sometimes, with the longer hose, it requires you doing a bit of a double fold. I accomplish this by setting my garter ties (or flashes if that is what you prefer) a touch below where I want the top of my hose to end up. I then pull a pinch of the hose nearest the garter tie down over the garter, then fold the top down as usual to cover the smaller fold and the garter tie. This allows the top of the hose to end up where I want them without there being a super long fold down, and keeps the garters from being down in the middle of my calf in an attempt to avoid covering them with the fold.

I applaud your willingness to seek input, and hope mine has been somewhat beneficial.

    Happy Tartan NIGHT!

Very nice shirt, hose, shoes for a classic "day" look.

I myself nearly always wear a jacket and necktie, or at the very least a waistcoat and necktie, but heck I'm a piper and we pipers tend to look a bit dressy.

I agree with Jock: the kilt could do with a slight hoist upward. Everything looks good, though. Nicely done!

You mentioned that you were thinking of leaving the belt off. I find that the only way to make that work is un-tucking the shirt. It can still be done and look very sharp. All and all....Love the combo. very well put together. I think I wore essentially the same outfiff but Isle of Skye and ancient green hose with a brown tweed vest.
