    Question Mounting a hackle

What is the proper way to mount a hackle? I'm not sure if you have to poke a hole in your bonnet or not. I do not have a rosette on either of mine, but I'd really like to put a hackle behind my USMC badge.

Could always go with a tartan patch behind it similar to those used on tam o'shanters... I could probably do you a maclean of duart one if you're interested... Woild be able to mount the hackle behind it...

I might be able to do it on the badge itself. My USMC badge is two piece. The posts are on the EGA and they pass through the metal on belt part of the badge. A tartan backing is a great idea. Tartan swatches are fairly inexpensive and easy to come by. It would also allow me to diversify my cap with what I'm wanting to wear that day. Thanks for the idea.
