    Tartan Day in Vancouver

A few last minute calls, emails and facebooking resulted in a few brave souls donning the kilts. Two of the four started the walk at the Robbie Burns statue in Stanley Park. Next the group went by the Bayshore Hotel to mark the six months Howard Hughes locked himself into a hotel room in 1971 ..well, it was on the way to our final stop - the Mill on the green. Traditional pulled-pork nachos, pints and a wee dram were consumed.

Then time to breakout the small pipes.

    Excellent pic.
A fitting tribute to the bard in starting the day at his statue in Stanley Park.
I am eagerly looking forward to being back in Vancouver and Victoria next month.

Looks like a fine day to be wearing the kilt, and from the sounds of it an enjoyable one too.

    Yikes! Rebel indeed

I don't know that I've ever heard small pipes... are they as loud and strident as the great Highland bagpipes?

No they're very quiet actual, like Uilleann pipes. They blend well with other acoustic instruments.

The pipe police did not get me on Tartan day... will see how today's playing in honour of Vimy Ridge goes. My next posting may be from jail
