What tartan is this?
Saw this photo on another thread and wondered what the tartan is worn by the fellow on the right with the yellow hose (the green based (?) with bold over stripes yellow & red (?)
Any ideas?

It's an old weave of Farquharson in the modern colors, where the sett is very, very large. In fact, there is only slightly more than one sett width across the front of the apron.

Could be, yes, but I rather suspect it's MacKenzie or an old Seaforth Highlander's. As a matter of fact they could both be wearing MacKenzie. You're probably right about the sett size though.

Thanks David, the large sett looks (a) good and (b) really makes a difference to the tartan. Something to consider if thinking of a custom weave!

No worries, X...
Contextual clues help. Particularly the fact that the individual wearing the tartan is the Chief of Clan Farquharson!
