I'm inclined to agree with that.
I like these better:

I'm dithering over getting one (or more) in black, navy or wine from here

They look a lot too short for kilt wearing, besides the grand-dadshirts that I remember were almost down to the knees! I cannot go with the trend of them not being tucked in either. So not for me, E.B..

From the description: "...these collarless heavy weight grandad shirts blend well with regular western wear..."
So... Pirate? Or Cowboy. Which will you have?
(I may check these out, too.)

I suspect the tails are tucked under the half mannequin the shirt is modelled on for the picture Jock. I don't do "not tucked in" either and I love shirts with long tails... 'appen not to mee knees mind.
Edit: I suspect the western slant is just a sales pitch. I just like the look of the shirt and prefer it to the billowing sleeves and Elvis collar of the mock-Jacobite style in the OP. If it does transpire these have good long tails (as per Grandad shirts of old), I also reckon it would go well with a Kilt.
Maybe there is a new marketing avenue for the company that produces them.

I like the look of the grandad collar John. Would be nice to see actual pics of it being worn if you get one.

It has now been decided. I've been told that I will be getting one of these puffy, lacy shirts. The only thing I'm waiting for is for her to decide which will provide the highest humidity level... Captain Jack Sparrow white, or Dread Pirate Roberts black.
I'm working on some rules though. I will not dye my hair blonde and grow it out and will not pronounce butter as bahtah, or get hit in the face by a goose.
Can anybody (Zardoz?) recommend a source that makes these in a good fabric and good quality? And sizing... I'm 5'7". Normally I wear medium shirts. Is a small a good bet with these swimming pools, or should I stick with medium?

I don't own one. Probably won't get one. But you know what? A recently departed friend, born 90 years ago in Scotland, a veteran of the Royal Navy and a lot of other adventures, wore one whenever he went to highland games. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. I'll never criticize anyone for wearing one.

Most of the shirts I wear were made at home, but these guys do great work, and offer customized stuff with the details that I use such as tab collars and sewn grommets.
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

Try The Celtic Croft, Burnett's and Struth, or Henderson's Bagpipes. They run a bit large, but they're supposed to be large, so you might want to stick with medium. I would speak with the vendor before ordering. Good luck, and show us a pic.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
