    Hi Peter,

I'll have to discuss with the team how we address this sort of case. Thanks for the heads-up, and please leave it with me...

... but also, I've I've said before, if you're ever in Edinburgh with an hour to spare for coffee, I'd love to talk Wilsons' (and more) with you!

    Best,

    Nick

I have one question - in addition to the three colorway ranges (modern, ancient, reproduction) that are included in the Tartan Library, do you intend to include variants in the color range used by Wilson and Sons during the 18th-19th centuries. I do not belong to a clan or family, and I am also a reenactor, so I tend to wear historic tartans in the "hard" finish. It would be a boon to see how these tartans would look in the historic Wilson colorway before ordering. Thank you for your service to the world of tartans.
We've considered doing this. And if Peter accepts my invitation to coffee, it might go a step further, who knows. But meanwhile, if there's any particular tartan that you (or anyone) would like to see in any particular set of colours prior to potential ordering, we'd be glad to produce an image for you manually.

Well done to all those concerned in the creation of the tartan library at D C Dalgleish. As kyle said earlier, I think I'll be on it most of the day too. Thankyou to all

I may be searching incorrectly or not fully understanding what this list is meant to be. Is it possible that only one Buchanan tartan (the dress blue used by dancers) is the only one in the database? Perchance what happened to the Ancient, Modern and Hunting? Not that I'm biased or anything, just curious.
Other than that, I think you are doing a great thing with this list.

No, I see you are correct. We'll look into it! As you can imagine, trying to manipulate a data set of thousands of tartans is a bit of a mammoth task, and odd things happen. As I said at the outset, it's going to be a work in progress for some time still. But I think I can put your mind at rest that the Buchanans will be joining the party soon.

Nice work on the site! And by the way, the quality of your tartan fabric is outstanding.
    Awesome!!!

Two things I noticed in my brief perview:

First, some of the "photorealistic images" are actually the original real photos from Dalgleish's old stock photo list (check out Black Douglas Modern), with creases and all intact.

Second, Forrester clan technically also does not have a Modern (or reproduction) version as, according to original clan documents, it is registered and woven only in ancient colors, despite what my screen name might imply (early kilt ignorance and naivety and no desire to change my screen name thereafter). It is often mislabeled as Forrester Modern in many tartan lists, even in Strathmore's website list (they are the only stock weaver of the original clan tartan and the Forrester Hunting as well, which actually IS in modern colors):
