    Does this mean that you feel fashion, regional, or universal tartans are somehow incorrectly or falsely termed? Or just not as legit as clan tartans? I would assert that that some of them have better of at least older pedigrees than many clan tartans do.

    I think you may be referring to the so-called or quotations, so not at all, just that the terms are sometimes used interchangeably or erroneously. Because of the nature of their registration and heritage, the tartans are always used correctly.
