Yes Tobus, you should Plead the Pith!
My wife is actually on the lookout for a smarter Bahama straw fedora for me to wear at our festivals this year.

I do have a straw "sun helmet", and it's very shady and cool, since the sweat can evaporate through it. But I really only wear that when I'm doing serious sweaty work in full sun. It's a pretty odd hat and I won't wear it out in public unless I'm looking for laughs. My USAF boonie hat gets used too.
For some reason, my body shape doesn't work with brimmed hats. Every time I've worn a full brimmed hat, I feel like I'm all out of proportion. Some guys just look right in them, and some guys don't. Maybe it's the shape of my face, or the size of my shoulders, but something's weird!
But despite all that, I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those Tilley hats that are lightweight and ventilated. Seems like the perfect hot-weather hat, and would probably go OK with the rest of what I'm wearing. None of it matches anyway, LOL.

I have a Bonner mesh-top bucket that is similar with the mesh up top. It is my go-to sunny weather cap for now, but usually when I am in hiking or park-hopping garb.

The gear is slightly remenisent of what I would consider as traditional outdoorsy; however I picture a Aussie snap-brim twill hat instead of ball cap, and having one side up might cure the shoulder/jawline imbalance you describe. but I'm just a jarhead so what would I know! Lol good luck and it looks comfy.

The snap brim would look jaunty. I wholeheartedly agree on the hose tops. I often wear my diced hose tops with Coolmax ankle socks and 8" logger boots to games in the area.

You look good from my perspective, too, Tobus, but I wonder about the gators; if you are trudging about in snake country I think they are a practically wise move but if not they seem a bit costumey to me.

I like Jock's suggestion a lot
Also I think if you lost the hose tops and added the right headwear the outfit would be just grand.
(The tops look too formal and out of place with the rest of the outfit)

I think your look is intelligent and individualistic. It works because you "own" it. I like it.
