If it's too hot for socks it's too hot for the kilt.
That's like saying "if it's too hot for pants it's too hot for shorts."

Traditional looks nice but, I very rarely wear kilt hose myself. I can't stand 'em usually. Too hot unless it's really cold out and a pain in the **** to put on and take off. I'm the one guy who thinks the guys in the Pixar pic look just right. Most often I do white or black scrunched socks with black tactical boots. Flip-flops if it's nice and hot and yes, short socks with Converse high tops. Don't get me wrong, I do on occasion do the hose/trad thing but I just don't see the point usually. It's just not me overall.

    I don't see the correlation.

Anyway...although I don't like the no socks with the kilt look, at least it looks like a conscious decision.
Short socks looks like you just forgot your kilt hose.

No, it’s neither short socks nor "scrunched hose" for me. I could be tempted to try, though, to wear socks like we did when I was overseas in the Army. We used to wear our boots with the socks rolled down over the top. It looked quite good.

with my doc marten boots and in casual/utility kilts when it is warm, i recently started rolling my hiking socks over the tops of my boots with the colored band as the top layer. if it is a nasty hot day and i am channeling riverkilt, i will wear sandals. when it is cooler and/or dressy situation, standard hose.
