    My personal preference would be to forego the bonnet entirely since you will be in Highland evening attire, but if I had to make a decision, my choice would be a Balmoral.

    I think the challenge is with trying to blend "outdoors" where a hat is frequently worn with "formal evening wear" where one is never worn. I would opt for shade or sunscreen if necessary, and forgo the bonnet if at all possible Phil.

    Eternal triangle dilemma. The way I see it -

    Kilt + PC = OK
    Kilt + Balmoral =OK
    PC + Balmoral = I just don't know. (Blue and Green should never be seen, unless there is something in between.)

    I suppose in the end it comes down to this - no one will question you. So, go for it!
