I enjoy all the Solstice as they are a way to mark the entry into a new season. My favorite times are Fall and Spring, though I always enjoy Winter. Fall prepares you for the time of short days and nights of being inside from the cold giving you time to slow down, be with friends and contemplate life. It is always a great time to do the indoor projects (sewing, weaving, reading etc) we dont take the time for in the summer. Spring is always a great rebirth of the world as life comes back from the gray barren world sprouts out new life. Gardens are planted and we look around and see the cycle of life before our eyes.

Each solstice I hang a new set of Buddhist Pray Flags in my garden or around my house letting them blow in the wind sending out their prayers to the world.

We passed the day on the farm, catching up on chores that the recent ugly wet weather has made impossible. Although it's not been as warm as usual, the wet has made the greens grow like weeds (as well as making the weeds grow like weeds). We had a wonderful large seasonal salad, fresh sourdough bread and some home-brewed Maple Wee Heavy -- with "Rhubatoon" for dessert: a cobbler of fresh rhubarb from the garden along with frozen saskatoon berries from last year's harvest.
