Sir John A arrived on Friday

Like the title says my Sir John A MacDonald kilt arrived on Friday and it is one sharp looking kilt. I asked to have it pleted to the stripe and since the sett is a little unusual so is the
    pleteing.

Very nice. Unusual pleating, as you said.

You look sharp in your kilt that extra yard filled it right out. Unfortunately looks like there is a mistake as that is pleated to the sett not the stripe if to the stripe each pleat in the back would be filled with stripes and would make the back look very different from the front. So here's the story folks. The Sir John A Macdonald tartan has a sett of about 8 1/4" so even though I asked for pleating to the stripe I suspected it might not work and Brandon confirmed that. There just wouldn't be enough pleats in a 5 yard kilt. It's not exactly pleated to the sett either. The middle pleat uses the same stripe as the middle of the apron and the pleats on either side of the middle are a mirror image to their opposite number on the other side. Like book matching wood grain for all you wood workers out there. Kind of a neat idea I think. I didn't see it at first until I held it up at arms length.

Hmm, a book matched kilt, eh? Could be a new trend. And it matches your shoes! Well done lad.

A bold and handsome kilt. I like the pleating style, because it is clever, unique, and most importantly, looks good. I'll have to ask Brandon to talk one of the B&S kilt makers into sewing one like that for me someday. Nice looking sporran, by the way.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Robert Pel at Rkilts made the sporan.
