Rob - pray more, worry less. You'll be fine whatever you choose! (I'm going kilted that day too, and if it's too hot, no robes, just a stole.)

Looks good, sorry I missed this thread earlier. I wear a kilt to church every Sunday, but my style may have been a bit too casual for you. I am typically in one of my kilts, USAK's in PV this time of year, t-shirt, sandals, brown bet, and a Nightstalker brown leather sporran. Easy, comfortable, and relaxed.

I would not be opposed to wearing a more casual style -- but since this was the first time, I felt like upping the ante a touch. As it was, it was very well received.
A nightstalker brown leather is the only sporran on my got-to-have list (I already have the nylon version ).

My church is also quite casual. I've been wearing my kilt to church every Sunday for the past several years. Always have a good reaction.

Nice work, Rob. The outfit you chose looks quite appropriate and sharp.

But to complicate the look a little, I wear the Nightstalker canvas sporran on my hip to carry my stuff in and don't use the pants pockets.
I'd be interested in seeing if you could integrate a kilt into your "normal" church wear... in particular, I think your belt with western buckle is wide enough for use with the kilt and a snap-front shirt could also work. The hat (outdoors only, as you say) and canvas sporran both sound practical and appropriate. I wouldn't, however, wear the boots because they never look right to me without jeans over top of them.
There are many Xmarkers who wear the kilt as everyday clothing and part of that ethos seems to be just swapping out their p@nts, without feeling the need to make everything else about their outfit Scottish. Just a thought, in case you decide that you like wearing the kilt to church and would like to do it more often.
