Many thanks to those who contributed to this thread.
Since churchwear is often very informal, kiltwear in church can also be quite informal.
For myself, I wear my Mighty Men kilt with a matching waistcoat (vest), a claret shirt, claret hose and a white tie with white flashes (at any rate, that is one possible combination, and the one I wear in church most often).
While many of the men at my church go tie-less, I have long felt that wearing a tie suits me better on Sunday morning, although I do not wear a suit except on extraordinary occasions, like my children’s weddings.
When I go to the church on Tuesday evenings for choir practice, my dress is on a much more informal level.
    Regards,
    Mike

So...did you? I wore mine, and ended up teaching the combined adult Sunday school classes. Fortunately the lesson was on the Holy Spirit's work and freedom. I used the kilt as an example of the freedom we have, and gave a little history lesson on Act of Prohibition in the process. Sorry no pictures this time.

Should you care for a woman's opinion (albeit a bit late) I think kilts are ALWAYS appropriate for men. Dress them up, dress them down, doesn't matter. I have never seen a man who didn't look better in a kilt.

    Well, nor does my rector!
And to our new member IrishJew, thanks for your kind words (even though you have not seen me in a kilt – but I got plenty of smiles from ladies this afternoon when I went to the movies).
    Regards,

I got lucky and snagged the brown leather nightstalker from SWK when they had some on clearance, $35 IIRC!

Regarding to the toppic, this summer I have created for my husband an alternative contemporary "church" version.
He likes contemporary kilts for their simplicity and decent form.

What do you think about this alternative?
