Since churchwear is often very informal, kiltwear in church can also be quite informal.
For myself, I wear my Mighty Men kilt with a matching waistcoat (vest), a claret shirt, claret hose and a white tie with white flashes (at any rate, that is one possible combination, and the one I wear in church most often).
While many of the men at my church go tie-less, I have long felt that wearing a tie suits me better on Sunday morning, although I do not wear a suit except on extraordinary occasions, like my children’s weddings.
When I go to the church on Tuesday evenings for choir practice, my dress is on a much more informal level.
