Oddly enough we had a national medal of honor come into our thrift store at work some years ago. They were going to sell it and I put a stop to that in a hurry. Needless to say it was packaged (along with several other medals and decorations) and sent back to the army where it belonged. I can't remember the gentlemans name but evidently after his death the family cleaned out his home and the medals came to us in his belongings.
